Drop impact onto a substrate wetted by another liquid: corona detachment from the wall film

Drop impact onto a thin liquid film of another is observed and characterized using high-speed video system. A new mode splash – complete, simultaneous corona detachment has been observed, which the result lamella breakup near wall film. The abrupt outward upward displacement leads to an extreme stretching wall, resulting in its rapid thinning rupture. This rupture triggers propagating Taylor–Culick rims, rapidly spread, meet and, thus, undercut simultaneously entire corona, detachment. Special experiments with spreading impingement fixed needle, supplement physical evidence above-mentioned mechanism. self-consistent theory phenomena proposed compared experiments, exhibiting good agreement.
